11. Important Manifestations of Worship – Tawakkul

with one comment

Tawakkul: It’s a state of heart. Cut off all the hopes of expecting good except from Allah. You realize all good comes ONLY from Allah, and any evil averted from you is by Him

(Quran Chapter 5. Al Maa-idah ayat 23)

“… and put your trust In Allaah if you are believers indeed.”

(Quran Chapter 1. Al Faatihah ayat 5)

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

(Quran Chapter 10. Yunus ayat 84)

And Mûsa (Moses) said: “O My people! If you have believed In Allaah, Then put your trust In Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will).”

Tawakkul is proportional to your Eeman. Weaker Eeman leads to lower tawakkul. When you go to a doctor, your mind should be saying “O Allah! You alone will cure this disease. You have given medical knowledge to this doctor”. Allah is sufficient for those who have tawakkul in Him.

It doesn’t mean we should not strive / work hard or plan

(Quran Chapter 4. An Nisaa’ ayat 71)

O You who believe! Take your precautions, and either Go forth (on an expedition) in parties, or Go forth All together.

(Quran Chapter 8. Al Anfaal ayat 60)

and make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allaah and Your enemy, and others besides whom, You may not know but whom Allaah does know…

(Quran Chapter 2. Al Baqarah ayat 197)

… And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is At-Taqwa. So fear Me, O men of understanding!

A man came to prophet and asked “should I tie my camel and have tawakkul in Allah, or should I just leave it”. Prophet replied “Tie up your camel and have Tawakkul in Allah” (Sunan Tirmidhi Vol 4)

…the birds leave their nests with empty stomach in the morning, and come back with full…( Sunan Tirmidhi Vol 4)
